Alibaba’s Aliyun mobile OS runs Android apps (Digital Trends)

Digital Trends – Reports have been swirling that Chinese e-commerce leader Alibaba was getting ready to launch its own mobile operating system, and today Alibaba Cloud Computing officially unveiled the Aliyun OS. Aliyun OS is based on Linux and will launch next month on a Chinese-manufactured K-Touch Cloud-Smart Phone W700 at the end of this month.

Digital Trends – Sony’s PlayStation 3 was long popular with the homebrew and tech-savvy gamer crowd, in part because Sony initially supported running Linux on the console. However, Sony removed Linux capability in a firmware update earlier this year, allegedly to staunch game and content piracy, and since then PlayStation 3 security has been garnering more than a little attention from enthusiasts and console modders eager to get back inside the console.

The fourth installment of the destructive sci-fi series will be accompanied by a comic book, downloadable arcade-style game and a Syfy television movie that could possibly serve as the pilot for a “Red Faction” TV series.
